"The light squeak from a door opening and the muted sound of a backroom piano penetrating the darkness of the room, only served to amplify the crude silence of the scene.
Jack fiddled with the razor and filled his lungs with the heavy lingering smells of the barbershop. He thoroughly enjoyed working for this crowd and yet he was hesitant whether to get out of the chair or not. Somehow this was not a job he particularly looked forward to. Being honest with himself he knew it would make the darkness close even closer in on him. Money was being made in the belly of the beast and yes, it paid his living and yes, he had twisted arms before. Still, this felt different. This felt like something he´d never be able shake off or censure from his already packed nightmares.
